The Evocati – Past and Present

At the request of the commander, certain courageous and experienced soldiers who had earned distinction because of exceptional ability and loyalty, voluntarily re-enlisted for further active duty after their twenty-year retirement. Such men were known as Evocati. In ancient Rome, they were treated with marked consideration and accorded many special privileges, including a mount while on the march and exemption from all fatigue duty. They were given extra pay and could be promoted directly to the grade of centurion. They helped sustain the morale of the troops and were in general held up as models for all enlisted men to follow.

Evocati, a World of Warcraft guild on Cenarius, has a striking relationship to the Evocati of old. Each original member of Evocati had been guild mates under another banner, many of them having been guild mates since the birth of the game. During that time, they fought together and grew in skill and friendship.

As time went on, it was evident that those now known as The Evocati were ready to follow one of their most trusted leaders as he resigned from serving his current master. This great leader was ready to embark on new adventures and journeys hopefully with the backing of his most loyal comrades. On the eve of the coup, all guild members in attendance of our raid leader’s announcement about the impending event showed their trust, loyalty and friendship by joining the reformation effort. That evening, the creation of a new guild transpired, and that guild was appropriately named Evocati.

The Evocati – Rules

Evocati emphasizes respect for fellow members, honorable conduct in-game, and success in PvE and PvP content. Evocati members maintain respectable conduct both in-game and out, and adhere to the World of Warcraft's Terms of Use and EULA.

Ranks: For the purposes of carrying out responsibilities in-game and out, Evocati is comprised of the following ranks:

Guild Master (Legatis Legionis): The Guild Master has all of the responsibilities of an Officer. In addition, the Guild Master acts as the public face of the Guild for recruitment and relationships with other guilds. The Guild Master is also responsible for promoting Officers in-game. The Guild Master can moderate all forums.

Officers (Tribunus Laticlavius): Officers can propose and vote on Guild leadership issues, can mediate disputes between members, can invite new members, and can promote Initiates to full membership. Officers can moderate all forums except the Tribunus forum.

Full Members (Centurion): A full member can coordinate or attend any activity. Centurions have priority on loot over Decurions (Initiates).

Initiates (Decurion): An initiate is a trial member who may be promoted to full membership after a two-week trial period. Decurions must speak with an officer and register on the forums, before beginning their evaluation period.

Forums: Forums are provided as a venue for coordinating activities and sharing ideas and information. When registering for the forums, the character name of your main character should correspond to your username. All forum posts must be appropriate to the respective forum and cannot condone violations of WoW's Terms of Use or EULA. Language should be constructive, non-vulgar, and should never insult or denigrate a fellow member. All content linked on the forums must adhere to the same rules as content posted in the forums. Information contained in a private forum thread cannot be linked to or copied to another publicly accessible location unless permission is given by Officers.

In-game Behavior: Members of Evocati must adhere to the Terms of Use and EULA of World of Warcraft. Members must not use tactics deemed "exploits" by Blizzard employees. All members are expected to communicate in Guild Chat, party chat, etc. as they would on the forums (i.e. respectful, non-insulting language). Furthermore, Evocati members must be honorable in PvP. Mind controlling people off cliffs, attacking Horde members who emote /wait or who have just finished dueling and are flagged, or using line of sight to attack people through walls is only acceptable against those employing these tactics.

Alternate Characters: Although we encourage members to have all of their characters guilded with Evocati, it is not mandatory. Players who wish to raid with an actively raiding guild are welcomed to have their alt characters in Evocati.

Disciplinary Action:Full members who witness what they believe to be a breach of these rules must PM an Officer and take a screenshot, if possible. Upon request, your name can be kept anonymous. The matter will be discussed and voted upon by Officers, if appropriate, and the offending party will face disciplinary action. This action will be determined by the Officers, but can range from a written warning to removal from the guild. If the member in question is an officer, a PM sent to an uninvolved officer will be handled and discussed amongst the non-involved officers as to the best course of action.
